Aloha kākou. This year we've selected 2 kāne and 8 wahine from 9 different schools (KS Kea'au, Hilo HS, Ke Kula Kaiapuni 'o Nāwahīokalani'ōpu'u, KS Kapālama, Campbell HS, Kahuku HS, Wai'anae HS, KS Maui, and Maui HS) and 3 islands (Maui, Hawai'i, and O'ahu) We all met each other for the first time on July 1, 2007 and a week later we have learned so much about one another. Let's share a little more about ourselves including our 'ohana, our school, our friends, our island, our hometown, and any other interesting facts. Here's some key questions that may help you-
- What is your full name?
- Where are you from?
- Where do you live? What is your hometown known for? What do you like best about your island or community?
- How old are you?
- Who are your parents? Do you have any brothers and sisters?
- What high school do you attend? What grade are you in?
- Do you play sports? If so, which ones? Do you have a favorite?
- What are some of your favorite things to do?
- Do you have any best friends? Why are they your best friends?
- What college(s) do you plan to apply to? Why?
- What career(s) are you interested in?
- Who are your role models?

Ho'oulu Project is the best I wasn't expecting to have this much fun. We do have to do a lot of hard work, but it all pays off. I know kids back home are hating on me right now. HAHA
Being known from Wai'anae, people didn't expect me to make it in this program...but I did!
HAHAHEHE[in your faces!!]
A HUI HOU
Aloha! My name is Jennifer Malia Lyman and I am from the island of O’ahu, where I currently live in Kane’ohe. I actually moved there a little over a year ago from ‘Aiea, where I lived just above the high school for fourteen years. I am fifteen years old and will be a junior at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama. I’m the Vice President of my class and enjoy planning out activities for the rest of peers to enjoy. Leadership is something extremely beneficial for me because it teaches me to be a servant leader, much like our Princess Pauahi. Although I do not play any sports for my school, I do enjoy swimming and soccer. During my free time, I also love to play the piano – especially the classics. My family is basically my best friends in the entire world because they are always there for me when I need them. But in addition to them is my best friend Shay, who is able to make me laugh no matter what the circumstance is.
Hopefully after I graduate from Kamehameha, I will be able to continue on to a prestigious college, such as Dartmouth in New Hampshire or Columbia in New York. However, this trip is showing me the realities of living so far from home and I’m not sure if the East Coast is right for me. Despite this, I just hope that I will be able to attend a small university that will help me to achieve whatever goals I set for myself. After my four years of undergrad, I hope to pursue my dream of working in the medicinal field at the John A. Burns School of Medicine back home. My pediatrician, Ryan Sumida, was actually the one that inspired me at the tender age of five to go into medicine and I look up to him enormously. This trip has been so much fun so far and I look forward to what the next couple of weeks will be like. Opportunities like this don’t come around to everyone and I’m so very appreciative.
Hey, it's TMAN in the house that I just want to say that my full name it Thomas James Elia Kerr. I'm form Hawai'i (BIG Island) and I live in the town of Hilo between the district of Waiakea and Waiakea Uka. I love my home because it's a place grew up with for the past 12 years and I know most of the grind spots around the Downtown side and Uptown side of Hilo. Also, I love the mixture of the town where it has a country side where it is open, and a city side where you can go and shop till ya drop. I will be a Junior (YEAH, DJ TURN IT UP!!!!!!)at Hilo High this coming school year. My parents are Harry Thomas Kerr (whom I got my first name from) and Joell Pomai Kalani Kerr. My dad passed away on September 31, 2002 due to a heart-attack and he had diabetes. It was a shocker for us because it came to us by surprise but, but,......... o I can't say anymore. I have a younger brother and sister. My sister is the second oldest in the family. Her name is Tiffany Ericka Evalei Kerr. She is 13 years of age and will be attending Hilo High this coming school year as a Freshman (BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!). My brother is the youngest of the children and his name is Tyler Joseph Kawainapuna Kerr. He is 9 years of age. My main role models are my parents because they always set a good example for me that I am not ashamed to call them my parents. Also, my favorite foods are spagehtii and pizza.
SHOOTS!!!! and MAHALO'S!!!!!
Aloha broha O SALEENA kaleinani Tafua ko'u inoa. No Oahu, Hawaii maiau. Noho au i K-town (kahuku). Hele wau i Kahuku High. He umikumahiku o'u makahiki. O Manu ko'u papa, o Love ko'u mama.
Yeah and the hawaiian language pretty much stops there for me. Hey, I'm trying. Well anyways Yes, you heard right. I am from Kahuku, the first and best(haha). I just liked to thank all the little people I crushed to get here. you made it so easy. bless your hearts(haha). No, but really, I was so happy I made the cut. Now that I am living it, I really glad I came. The 8 hour flight (EIGHT hour flight!!!) was all worth it. The cirriculum I am learning and the way its taught is just how they do it in the medical school. I am getting a head start in life that most don't have an oppurtunity to have. I consider myself smart... I mean LUCKY to be one of the 10 Ho'oulu students of 2007. HHHYEEAAAHHH! WHHHAAAT!
(I luv errbuddy! *uma*)
Aloha everybody. I’m Kayla Liwai and I’m from Oahu currently living in Royal Kunia. I’m a junior to be at James Campbell High School. My Sweet Sixteen is 10.12 so give me lots of hugs and kisses. My mom and dad is Joseph and Jenny Liwai and I am the middle child with twin two year old brothers, and a 23 and 24 year old brothers My hometown is in Ewa Beach and I guess we’re known for the hot weather. :] I love Oahu because there’s a lot of shops and things to do and if you don’t have a car, you can always ride the bus ($1 for students and $2 for adults >.<)hehe…Anyway, I like to play tennis and volleyball and although I’m not good at both, I still try. I love to sing and I absolutely positively cannot live without music, singing, my cell phone and friends. Life just wouldn’t be the same. I plan to apply to Harvard, Trinity, UCLA, and U.H. at Manoa because I think they have good medical programs and they seem like good schools to go to. If I go into the medical field, I want to be a bio-med. Engineer and if not, then I want to get my bachelors in education and while teacher, get my bachelors in music producing. My dream is to become a singer but if that doesn’t happen, then at least I have back up plans :].

My name is Ashley Kanani Aquino. I am from Maui. I was raised in Keanae but I currently live in Kahului. Maui is knowns as the best island, "Maui No Ka Oi". The thing that I like best about my island are the beautiful beaches. I am sixteen years old (my birthday is on September 1st). My parents are Darrell and Evelyn Aquino. I have one 19-year-old brother named Kevin. I am going to be a senior at Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus. I played volleyball since the 7th grade and stopped after my sophomore year. I played tennis since my freshman year and plan on playing next year. I really enjoy volleyball as a recreational sport and not competitive. I don't know who I would call my BEST friend but i have many GOOD friends. They are my good friends because they are there for me and I have fun with them. They are people that I can trust and depend on to be there when I need them. I do not know exactly what college I want to apply to at the momen but I do know that for a fact I am going to apply at a college. I was thinking of applying to colleges in California. I am interested in pursuing a career in business management. I do know exactly the path that I'm going to take. I just know that I want to head in the business direction. My role models are my parents and my grandparents as well as the people who are really in touch with their hawaiian culture and speak the language.
Mahalo,
Ashley Aquino

Aloha! My name is Kealoha Norman Casper Kramer and I hail from the Big Island of Hawai'i. I'm born and raised in Hilo and I currently live in Waiakea near the University of Hilo. My parents are Norman and Diane Kramer--they're very supportive and encouraging but yet strict with me too. I love them very much, I owe it to them for making me the Kealoha I am today. I'm attending Kamehameha Schools Kea'au Campus on the Big Island, where I will journey as a senior this upcoming year. I'm an athletic, ambitious, humorous, initially shy, and courageously willing to try and learn new things. I play basketball, volleyball, track, and for the first time cross country. My favorite sport of all, I must say, is basketball (maybe a little volleyball but. . .). I love to play basketball, I've been playing since I was eight and it has been a long road since then--a lot of ups and downs, but I manage to push on. I love these group of people I'm sharing this experience with. They're the greatest people and friends I ever met, I enjoy their company and enjoy all their unique personalities. I have plans to apply to Harvard, Occidental, Sacred Heart, Adams State College, UH, Pacific, Ithaca, and Hope College. I plan to dwindle it down in a couple weeks or months (I also want to play a collegiate sport). Anyway, Harvard is awesome and I'm enjoying it tremendously; however, it's somewhat different than home. I guess the distantance don't affect me much, because my family frequently travels every year. I love to eat anything whenever I can, period! Anyway, I'm enjoying myself a lot, and I will never forget this journey I'm grateful to be apart of.
