A graduate from Swarthmore College in 1952. He received his PhD in Biology from Harvard in 1956. For many years Dave has been interested in synaptic functions. Along the road Dave met Ed Furshpan who too is interested in synaptic functions. After working as a postdo with Professor Stephen Kuffler at Johns Hopkins Medical School, he transferred to Harvard Medical School in 1959-60 researching synaptic transmission and teaching neurobiology to college students. He currently is a Research Professor of Neurobiology. My perspective:
Professor David Potter who prefers to go by "Dave" is one out of two of the most coolest neurobiologist that I will ever meet in my life. Dave is by far a very knowledgable man. He answers any question that you may have. Even if he doesn't have an answer he'll try and then he'll tell you "To tell you the truth, I don't have an answer." I love him and I truly am going to miss him. I have had many interesting discussions with Dave. He is a very upbuilding and positive man. What I think is funny about Dave is that here we have a very wise and educated 77 year old man with physical limits who actually walks faster than most of us. I truly am going to miss him and I'm sure that everyone will too. Thank you Dave!!!

I love having Dave in tutorial, he's always so full of information.
Dave, ahem excuse me, Dr. Potter, is what I usually call him whenever I meet him. He is very interesting person I would say mainly because many times he is always there to just kind of give you a challenge. In my group he would always put up questions that would challenge you and your knowledge. I'm glad that he was giving us some challenges because it made have to actually use our brains for once in a while. Anyway, I'm going to miss Dr. Potter and I thank him for all the work that he has done for us. THANK YOU DAVE!
Dr. Potter was the proffesor in my tutorial room, he's so funny. He alwasys corrects little mistakes like a speling error, thats why I love his teachings.
I agree! Dave is the coolest professor, along with Ed too, that you'll ever meet--they're not like other teachers I've met. I'm gonna miss them a lot, but hoefully I can see them again sometime in my life.
I have so much respect for this man as well. He puts so much effort into helping and education us. I have been blessed to be a part of Dave`s tutorial and conference group. He is so humble and kind; it`s gonna be sad saying good-bye! MAHALO DAVE!
The professors up here are miles different than my high school teachers. They seem genuinely interested in you as a person and what they are teaching rather than just their paychecks. It's extremely refreshing to have people like this teaching us and Dr.Potter is no different.
Dave is the best teacher ever! I have him for both tutorial and conference. He is very enjoyable to be around and a very layed back person. He likes to ask questions to get you thinking. I really look up to him because he has accomplished so many things in his life and he feels for the Native Hawaiians and the Wampanoags.
This guy is very subtle. No matter how ridiculous the question is. He takes gives a steady sigh, and gently tells us the answer. He always encourages us to speak our mind, even if the answer is completely wrong. He is a very lenient man, and permissive. I very grateful I got to meet David Potter a.k.a Dave.
