BYOP is a Boston youth organization that organizes from around the Boston area, as well as other places, and preach to them the power of words and the importance of the actions that follow those words. I thought this event was going to be in a large space, and they were going lecture to us about their organization--I guess I was expecting something real typical I guess. But, go figure, their headquarters was based in a small apartment/business center near the Boston Commons (?). When we got there, we met a some cool people that dedicate most of their lives to this specific cause--keeping youth out of violence, and less likely to use drugs and alcohol. I think it's a great organization to be apart of, and I think one of the reasons we went to visit was because, one of the goals of this program is to perpetuate the knowledge we learned through our own communities back home. I guess by learning about what BYOP is about, we can somehow be motivated to start something back home that could possibly change our drug and alcohol problems.
To me, it wasn't bad at all, we got a lot of information and we were able to have fun! We got sing our Hawaiian songs, we got to dance to some reggaeton music--talk about getting down! We got down alright! Hector showed us his dancing skills, as well as some other friends too. I had a blast! On top of all that fun, we ordered like eight boxes of pizza.
Other than that though, meeting new people who have made a difference in their community is especially life changing. It gets you motivated and amped to do something that will change your's and our world for the better.

Hey this it TMAN a.k.a. Thomas Kerr saying that I had a blast at dancing with BYOP people. I was jammin to the break of dawn and started to boogie to 2 step remix. WOW!!! We had a lot of fun at there place and also I wish to thank them for ordering us some pizza because I was as hungry as a pig once we finally reached the top steps of their appartment. Well see ya later.
B.Y.O.P was FUN i LEARNED SOME NEW DANCE MOVES.
BYOP was really fun. It was interesting observing people learning new dance steps.. It was really fun.
That afternoon really gave us a chance to relax and have fun. It was really interesting as well as inspiring to talk to the youth organizers. The stories that they were able to share with us were amazing and I'm glad that they welcomed us with open arms.
Visiting BYOP was one of my highlights. Everything they had to share with us inspired me greatly to go home and actually DO something about the issues we face in our communities. I am now also inspired to form some type of group in school that will benefit our culture, communities, and nation. The dancing & pizza was `ono too!
I agree. I totally was expecting BYOP to give us another lecture. But nope. We learned and we boogied down. I appreciate the kind of dedicated people they are to care for the youth keeping them off the streets. I had a lot of fun singing, dancing, and eating food....PIZZA!!!
I also thought this would be another one of those typical lectures. We just finished a long day of classes, and another lecutre on top of that... I so did not look forward to it! First thing I see is the building.. it said "Boston Church Group", or something like that, and my insides just dropped. I needed energy, and quick to survive this. To my suprise, it was nothing like I perdicted. We learned about the organization, ate icecream and pizza. Met the leaders of their organization, and their mission to help the youth of the organization. One of the ways they help the youth to stay off the streets, is to dance. Oh my gosh did I dance? You bet I did! Raging bull!! Partners in crime, Jenn, Kayla, Chiquita, Ashley!! It was really fun, and we all enjoyed it.
I thouht it was a good idea to visit the people from BYOP. We got to meet new people and learn about an organization that was trying to help the youth in their community. I loved the dancing and the new moves we learned from Hector and the other guys.
