HARVARD=HOME
I learned not to judge a book by its cover. The dorms at Harvard was not up to my expectations. Each person has their own room. I didn't expect to be living in what it seemed like an "unsanitary" atmosphere. But in actuality the dorm was sanitary, it was just old. As the first couple of days went by, we had gotten used to what would be our home for the next three weeks whether we liked it or not. In a way I really feel spoiled. We have great clean restrooms and accessable washers and dryers that we need to fight to get a spot since their is only a limited number. Washing clothes is great. I finally know how to do laundry. It takes about an hour and a half. We really have to time our laundry because the first week some of us was staying up late which was not too good. After a while we got used to the fact that sharing washers and dryers was a good idea. In our hale we also have a kitchen. I think it's really cool because if we're hungry we can sneak for a little snack. I've done that MANY times. A couple of times we've cooked in house. Kumu Malia said that in the past the fire department had to come a couple of times because they were frying spam and the smoke detector went off. So far that hasn't happed to us. Cooking is fun. Many of us got to contribute cooking. As we aproach our homestretch, our last week, hopefully by now everyone of us is pretty comfortable with the living conditions. Although we have a curfew we have a lot of fun at night doing our homework in each others rooms and cruising with the Wamponoags, throwing a couple of parties...."WHOOPS"....."SHHHH!!" I would have to say at first abiding the curfew was a little hard for some of us, "most of us. I think it's really cool that we have a little dinning room on the 2nd floor. It's a great place to eat and watch T.V. We've also had a couple of great opportunities to go to the gym. The gym is an awesome place. It's about four levels full of sweaty people working. It's really cool that there are T.V's on a lot of the equiptment. I really am going to miss living at Harvard. Just when we got used to it, we got to leave. :(

I think living in the Harvard dorms so farm away from home as given many of us insight of whether we want to leave home or not for college. Personally, I enjoyed living in the dorms and I wouldn't mind living in one of the dorms here at Harvard. I'm really going to miss being here & having the freedom that we were given.
I too didn`t really like the dorms at first. Being Harvard and all, I expected them to be more... luxurious. But now, I am very much accustomed to this living style. It`s very comfortable and easy to get used to. I especially like having a KITCHEN, our own rooms, and a clean bathroom! I`ve gotten so used to my routine here in the dorms that it`s gonna be awkward when I first get home, not having to wake up so early and seeing the bright, smiling faces of our friends right outside our doors!
I totally know what you mean about "as soon as we're getting used to it we have to leave." I just finished my laundry and I'm getting used to his independent lifestyle and juggling more than one activity at the same time. It's bittersweet to know that at the end of this week we'll be back at home, but I do know that all the memories I created here will never leave me. I had a lot of fun here at Harvard and I'm really going to miss everything about this dorm life - the good and the bad.
First of all, I'm really glad you learned how to do laundry Sam (it's about time). The dorms at first--really, I didn't care what they looked like, but they were kind of old not to mention. The gym is awesome, it was too bad we couldn't go there more often though, because we all would've enjoyed it. I can say I broke curfew at times, but not to make excuses it wasn't on purpose. It was either because I had laundry still going, or I had to finish homework in Kumu Kepa's room because I had no computer. The dorms are a fun place to be, it gives a short glimpse of what college life will be like.
LOL! I thought it was a prison. My room (if you can call it that) is plain white walls, small, and just so opposite of my bright pink room at home! I did spice it up with 5,000 water bottles, and MONSters ofcourse. Just to give it a little color. ~Then I learned that we were on the 3rd floor. WHooo! What a journey. Especially doing laundry, in the basement, which is 4 floors below us. Its a fight to get there, and its a fight to use the limited machines we have! I think I had to knock out 2 girls with the laundry detergent to get to the machines. Shhhh! there still alive. Just don't come between me and the machine or you know whats coming your way! One good thing about my room is its right next to the kitchen!! haha... so I know who ate my cheese last night, come clean or meet me in the laundry room with detergent! hikino =)
Yeah wen we first got in the dorms it really stinked. But after a while I got use to it I guess. Now its "home sweet home"
